Now especially: Solidarity with the people of Israel
Since the morning of 7 October, Israel has once again been massively attacked by the Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas. Hundreds of civilians and soldiers have been abducted, tortured and killed. We have received shocking and disturbing images that are characterized by inhumanity and hatred. We are deeply shocked.
All our solidarity goes out to all the people in Israel whose safety is threatened and who have to live with great loss and fear.
In many places around the world, there are demonstrations by groups showing solidarity with Hamas. These demonstrations are tinged with anti-Semitism and hostility towards Israel. We condemn the terrorist attacks against Israel and anti-Israel hatred in the strongest possible terms.
Our concern and solidarity is with the people of Israel, our partners, volunteers and friends. We are in contact with them. We feel connected to the state of Israel, which should offer Jews security and protection.
We support rallies that express solidarity with Israel.
Background to our Israel work:
Every year since 1961, ASF volunteers have been involved with various partner organizations in Israel. There they accompany Shoah survivors, socially disadvantaged people and people with disabilities and work at memorial sites, archives and museums. Volunteers from Israel are regularly involved in ASF’s international volunteer program in Germany. Numerous close companions, including many survivors of the #Shoah, have made this rapprochement possible and played a key role in shaping it. #standwithisrael
